Actually it's from Ohio to Ukraine, back to Ohio, then to China

we've made a decision...

We met the little boy that we came to see in Kharkov (or is it Kharkiv?), and we have decided to adopt him!!! Obviously we are very excited. It's so hard to believe that we have finally met the little boy who is our son. I've been imagining meeting him for years, and I am so happy that the day finally arrived!
-------
I would love to post pictures, but I think it's best to wait until he is "officially" ours! I always hated when other bloggers didn't post pictures until later, but if I keep you in suspense, you'll keep checking back and reading what I post :) I will tell you that he is 17 months old, has blonde hair, blue eyes and is absolutely adorable!!
-------
He was born without part of his esophagus (called esophageal atresia), and what this means is that he is fed through a stomach tube for the time being. Surgery is required to either stretch the esophagus ends to each other or use part of his intestine as an esophagus. We aren't sure at this point how much esophagus he has, so we don't know how extensive the surgery will be. We're already praying for that as well.
-------
Thank you for your prayers and support!!
Love - Staci and Damon

I've been praying and checking in. I'm so thrilled for you and your new "little man"! I am glad God brought you together in Ukraine! I will certainly be praying for you as you seek to bring him the medical attention that he needs to grow up all healthy and happy.
I look forward to seeing his beautiful picture when court is over, too.
Thank you for sharing your encouraging story for those of us who are seeking God's will.

Staci this is great! Jessica GJ and I were just having lunch today wondering what had happened....I've been dying to hear!

So glad you posted. Can't wait to see a photo. I was reading another woman's blog who commented in yours and the whole process is so fascinating from an outsider perspective. I felt like after I read her blog that I understood more about what you were going through.

:) Big smiles!!!!!

I have been checking all day. Praise the Lord!!!!!! He sounds adorable. I knew God would send the one you were to have. We will also pray for his immediate medical attention. Maybe they will waive the 10 day wait because of his condition and you can be home sooner.

Woo hoo! What wonderful news, you have found him at last!!! Congratulations and best of luck in the following days and weeks of your journey. I know what you mean about the pictures; maybe you could get creative and keep his face out of the shot? I don’t think you have to worry about keeping your audience though.

So excited for you. And thrilled for him that he will have a mom and dad to care for him, love on him . . . and get him the medical attention he so much deserves! Praying for a speedy process (is that possible in Ukraine!!! :) ) during the rest of your time in Ukraine!

Our oldest son had esophageal atresia. Unfortunately, he had a rough road and passed away at 13 months old of pneumonia. I didn't put that in to worry you, sorry. I can't wait to follow your story. I know he will do great! It is a very rare situation so if you would like hook up I would love to hear from you. My email is khuff.family@cox.net

You guys are awesome! I'd like to extend an invitation to you to join BornWithEA.com - its a community site for parents and survivors of Esophageal Atresia. My son Lucian was born in December with EA, we've been through good and bad, but he's home now and doing amazing! I hope to see you there!
