Actually it's from Ohio to Ukraine, back to Ohio, then to China

I may have spoken too soon...

I was just saying how comfortable Wesley was getting with us, and then we had a day like today. He cried almost the ENTIRE time we were with him! Nothing seemed to settle him down. I am not sure what was going on. We're working on getting to know each other, so I guess it's going to take time - it's just discouraging to have a small child screaming and you are doing all you can to help, but it doesn't work! Praying for a better day tomorrow...

Hang in there. It is an adjustment period for both of you. It will get better.

I know it is hard now, but, really this is a great sign!! He is attached to something or someone. This is what you want. Our daughter was the opposite! She would go to anyone and did not even shed one tear about walking out of the orphanage. And we have had a whole heap of trouble trying to get her attached to us. Try to stay optimistic, this little guy will love you! I have no doubt! Yes, it will take time, but the time you spend WILL pay off. You are in my thoughts and I wish you lots of energy to deal with this stressful situation.

Just remember guys, this is a big and strange experience for little Wesley too. Like the Cunningham's said, at least he has formed a bond with some of the workers at the orphanage which shows you that he has been recieving love. That's a good thing!

I know it is easier said then done, but don't take any of it to heart. If you were to go back and read our blog about the days we spent with Olena, you would read many many posting about how bad she was when we would visit. I even spent a few visits sitting in the hallway crying because I didn't know what to do. It's all part of the process, and unfortunatley the longer you are there the harder it gets - plan on this rough road for a few more weeks. Once home and settled, it will all fall into place. Hopefully he is much better than Olena was on the plane ride home. It has been a year and half since we have been home and I still dread the thought of putting this little girl on a plane. She scarred me for life :) Congratulations to all of you and God Bless. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Hang in there. Dis-ve-donya!

Don't let it get you down. I recall a similar experience with Leeza. She seemed to be bonding well, then one day she was pouty and crying almost the whole time and didn't want to do anything. We never did figure out what the problem was, but I'm guessing it was just a day she wasn't feeling her best or was tired or something like that.

I'm sure your little guy will be back to his normal personality next visit!

As everyone else has said just hang in there. We adopted a four and half year old from Ukraine in 2005. Some days were great, others weren't so great. He used to run out of the room and down the halls and do a whole bunch of other things. Hang in there, it will pay off.

Hey Guys! Hang in there. You're on his turf, so he's probably confused as to why these two nice people come and visit him everyday. I am sure he loves it, but he is torn, perhaps a bit scared. Very natural. Tommorrow will be better. Stefanie

Our first bad day was on day two of visiting. If we didn't have day one we would never have believed he was a different boy! Hang in there! Orphanage behavior goes away quickly!

No words of wisdom here, we adopted an older known child, but just wanted to let you know we will be praying for the 3 of you.

I'm guessing he knows something is up (yup, he's getting a family and his whole world, as he knows it, will turned right side up for the first time :) ). Just remember he is probably just very scared. Sounds like a normal, healthy 17 month old to me. That's a blessing!

You will have those days even when he has become completely comfortable with you. It is just part of being parents. We will pray that your visit is better today. We are leaving this afternoon. We will be there tomorrow.

Hi Staci and Damon

At least you know he is a little fire in him ;)

Maybe he just had a bit of a tummy ache.

Hang in there!

((hugs)) It will get better. Pretty soon, you will be the only one able to console him. :)
