Actually it's from Ohio to Ukraine, back to Ohio, then to China

today is not our day

So I guess you can tell by the title that this post is not going to include any good news. Kiev has now given the okay for Wesley's last name, but not his first or middle. Our translator found out that in Kiev they have agreed to give the okay, but they want to see the original documents (which are here in Kharkiv). So our translator just left to head to Kiev and will return Friday morning (hopefully with word that our tax ID has been approved).

-------

The passport office has been closed due to changing offices or something like that, so technically we aren't any more behind than we could have been. I believe though that those who have applied before us during the shutdown will be processed first, thus realistically putting us behind. They might be opening today or tomorrow. We know of two Ukrainian Angels families who have received their child's tax ID numbers and completed the application for the passport, but are still waiting for the actual passport.
-------

So we continue to wait...and we ask you to continue to pray for receipt of the tax ID, passport, and visa, continued health (physical and mental), strength, and perseverance.
Love - Staci and Damon

Wesley is such a cutie. I love the pictures. So sorry about all the delays. Anything dealing with goverment always seems to take longer. We are still waiting for our letter from the British Embassy. It is now going onto 2 weeks as our dossier sits on our agencies desk. I will pray for you guys.

Of course I'll be praying. Seems like it's always something new when it comes to Ukrainian adoption. I'm sure your nerves are shot and you're just spent, to say the least. I pray that God will give you the strength & energy you need to get through the remaining days - one day at a time.

And hey, at least you have that precious little face to keep you smiling in the interim - he is such a doll :)

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing these added delays. Seems like it's always something in Ukraine.

Wesley's photos are adorable. I can imagine the joy you're experiencing being with him. Hope that helps as you deal with some of the delays.

Such a cutie! I can't believe that you find time to post such nice comments on other blogs when you are so busy trying to finish up the details. Bless you! I'm a wreck and your comments were much appreciated. Best wishes for a quick trip back home, Heather

I remember waiting in Odessa each day for our little one's passport to arrive. We would have to wait until 2:00pm each day, listen to our translator talk to someone in russian, then her tell us no, that it did not come again that day. I feel your pain.
Looking back, those extra days were great bonding time before we got back into the "real world" and got hung up in the day to day stuff. Enjoy each day as much as possible. We are praying for you. (Btw, we have friends who just arrived in Kharkov orphanage #3 today!)

Sorry about the delays. But if you look at the positive side....you get to spend a little more time exploring Wesley birthland! You might not get to go back for a long time, so take lots of pics that you can share with him as he gets older. I'm still praying for all 3 of you!

Hey guys! I was just thinking about you and hoping that things were starting to get better. We were only in Missouri for 2 1/2 weeks and went stir crazy, I'm sure being in another country is ten times worse. Hang in there and know that you WILL be home soon and then you'll be enjoying life with your son.
